Preventive care
“Prevention is better than cure” – D. Erasmus
Oral hygienists focus primarily on preventive care, or: “preventing gum problems and cavities in the teeth”. Through education and brushing instructions, we contribute to your oral health, which falls under “preventive work”. For good oral hygiene, we advise you to have your teeth cleaned regularly (according to the oral hygienist’s advice) to prevent (larger) oral or teeth problems. Do you have no complaints? Then we still recommend visiting the dental hygienist, as tartar cannot be removed sufficiently by yourself. Only oral care professionals are trained to do this. Also, not everyone experiences symptoms of gum bleeding, which can lead to inflammation without you realising it.
