Children & Teens

We recommend scheduling an appointment for your child(ren) as soon as the first teeth have erupted. By bringing your child(ren) to the dental hygienist, we can work together to prevent dental problems. In the process, children learn in a fun way to take good care of their teeth. This way, appointments at both the dental hygienist and the dentist become less and less exciting.

From experience, we note that teenagers are more likely to forget, because they have to make an appointment with the dental hygienist on their own accord more often. Yet teenagers also need (extra) help in keeping their teeth clean. Especially if they have braces! Therefore, make sure your teenager schedules appointments too, to avoid dental problems.

Case story:

A young man (14 years old), with braces, came to me in the chair. The dentist had referred him because of inflamed gums. The young man found it very difficult to take care of his teeth with braces. Cleaning was done with the airflow, a special powder that cleans well around the brackets. I gave him instructions on how to keep his braces clean properly. Currently, he has no more inflammations and we received positive feedback from the dentist!
